The uniqueness and effectiveness of mouthwash CB12

Bad breath causes discomfort not only to its owner, but also to others. Sometimes, symptoms are caused not only by lack of oral hygiene, but also by diseases of internal organs or pathogenic microflora.

In the latter case, CB12 mouthwash is an excellent assistant in the fight against unpleasant odors.

Not only does it keep your breath fresh throughout the day, but it also serves as an oral antiseptic, eliminating harmful bacteria.

General information

Specialists from one of the oldest universities in Oslo worked to create a unique composition. The patented formula of the rinse aid is used in production in Switzerland.

Today, the refreshing product has no analogues throughout the world, despite the fact that the market for dental additional products is crowded.

Pathogenic microflora of the oral cavity contributes to the formation of plaque on the tongue - an excellent environment for its own habitat. As mentioned above, the unique formula not only freshens breath, but eliminates the original source of the problem - bacteria.

Those who have experienced the effects of CB12 mouthwash can compare the duration and quality of the effect of other products. Most compounds only mask the smell, while it is necessary to fight its cause.

Compound

Today, the Swiss company produces a series of two rinses: CB12 Mild-Menthor Flavor and CB12 Mint-Menthor Mouthwash. The listed products have an identical composition, the second product differs only in the presence of menthol flavor. Familiarize yourself with the main active ingredients of the rinse aid.

Chlorhexidine

The component is included in many antiseptics and is universal due to the fact that not a single class of microorganisms has yet appeared that it could not cope with.

Chrorgexidine was developed back in 1950, but it was first used only 4 years after its discovery.

Another distinctive feature of it is the ability to linger on the surface of the oral mucosa for some time after use.

The antiseptic is suitable for everyone without exception, as it does not cause an allergic reaction and has no smell or taste.

The standard concentration of the component in the solution is 20%, but for disinfection of premises it is diluted to 0.05%. Medical instruments are treated with 1% chlorhexidine; in the CB12 rinse aid it is used in a ratio of 0.025%.

Zinc acetate

This component is used in the chemical industry to speed up the reaction. Pharmacists use zinc acetate to combat the manifestations of nosopharyngitis (inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx). The component is included in the composition of absorbable lollipops.

In addition, the food additive E650, which is the name under which zinc acetate is registered, is used in the production of many filters, as it is capable of trapping sulfur. In dentistry, the component is often included in special filling cements.

Sodium fluoride

The component is found in every second toothpaste, as researchers note that it is the lack of sodium fluoride that leads to the destruction of tooth enamel.

Accordingly, by using CB12 mouthwash, you not only take care of fresh breath, but also, to some extent, strengthen the enamel structure.

Ethanol

The component in the rinse aid acts as a solvent and is present in relation to other ingredients in a dosage of 1.7%. Therefore, despite the fact that ethyl alcohol can be absorbed by the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, when rinsing it will enter the body in microscopic quantities.

However, experts recommend using the product no earlier than 20 minutes before driving. It is unlikely that a traffic police inspector will believe the story about the breath freshener.

Mint fragrance

The mint flavor has a fairly low degree of severity, which many users of the product like.

In cheap products with this component, manufacturers simply try to drown out the taste of other components, thereby creating unpleasant conditions for people who take care of oral hygiene.

Indications and contraindications

It is highly effective and refreshes the oral cavity for a long time. CB12. The mouthwash should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to at least one of the components contained in the product. Children under the age of fourteen should not use the product.

SV12 is intended for the prevention of dental diseases. The mouthwash can be used during pregnancy and lactation, but after consulting a doctor. The product contains 1.7% alcohol, which disappears after 17 minutes. After this time, you can drive a car.

Indications

The composition of the CB12 mouthwash does not have any medical indications as such. Therefore, users use it to improve breath freshness and eliminate bad breath.

However, based on the consideration of the components included in the composition, it can be argued that the product strengthens the enamel and is able to prevent the development of many oral diseases caused by bacteria.

Advantages and disadvantages

The lack of impact on the oral microflora is both a good and a bad thing about CB12 . Good, because many microorganisms live in the mouth, most of which are either beneficial or harmless.

If you destroy them, it will not lead to anything good, only to dysbiosis. But there is also a minus: after working for 12 hours, the drug does not leave any consequences. You can use it for a year, but after stopping regular use, the smell will reappear (if there is a reason).

The presence of fluoride in the composition is most likely due to the ingrained idea of its beneficial effect on teeth.

This is partly true: lack of fluoride has a bad effect on enamel. Excess, which fewer people know about – too. Dental disease caused by excess fluoride is called fluorosis. It lies in wait for growing teeth, which is why toothpastes for children usually do not contain fluoride.

This may be why CB12 mouthwash is not recommended for use by children under 14 years of age.

This limitation is especially relevant in areas with excess fluoride in drinking water, from which it is most absorbed. You should not add additional halogen in the form of toothpastes or mouthwashes. For children, the fluoride content in water is above 1.5 mg per liter, for adults - above 4 mg.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications to the use of CB12 mouthwash, experts include age under 14 years and individual intolerance to individual components of the composition.

It is worth noting that, despite the presence of ethyl alcohol, the product is not contraindicated for pregnant and nursing mothers.

How to remove odor forever -

Above we have provided a link to an article that gives a comprehensive answer to the causes of unpleasant odor, as well as treatment methods. Remember that no rinses, toothpastes, or sprays will help eliminate the smell if you have:

  • soft plaque and hard tartar (Fig. 5),
  • carious teeth, rotting of teeth under crowns (Fig. 6),
  • chronic inflammation of the gums (gingivitis, periodontitis),
  • chronic tonsillitis, bronchitis (Fig. 7),
  • chronic diseases of the stomach and intestines,
  • and most importantly, if you have poor oral hygiene.

The unpleasant smell will disappear only when all these points are missing. It should be noted that most of them are associated exclusively with insufficient oral hygiene. The latter leads to the accumulation of soft microbial plaque and tartar on the teeth, which (in turn) cause tooth decay and gum inflammation.

Therefore, if you want to have fresh breath, without spending money on expensive mouthwashes and constant treatment for gum inflammation, brush your teeth correctly. But first, you need to visit a dentist to cure all rotten teeth, a periodontist to remove tartar and cure gum inflammation, an ENT doctor or gastroenterologist to cure chronic diseases of the throat, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract.

Special instructions -

  • the drug should be used with caution in motorists (1.7% alcohol),
  • According to the instructions, CB12 has no contraindications for pregnant and lactating women, however, we believe that due to the alcohol content, this drug should not be used for a long time in this group of patients. We hope that our article: CB12 bad breath reviews price was useful to you!

Action

The creators of the unique formula for the mouthwash managed to discover an indisputable fact - the reaction products of the interaction of zinc acetate and chlorheskidine are able to eliminate sulfur dioxide gases, which are the source of bad breath, for 12 hours.

Scientists have proven that these active ingredients alone cannot achieve a similar result.

In significant concentrations, chlorhexidine can destroy not only harmful microflora, but also beneficial ones. However, the minimum amount of active ingredient in the mouthwash has only positive aspects.

The antiseptic destroys the sulfur shell, while zinc acetate fights sulfurous substances formed as a result of the decomposition of food debris.

The uniqueness of the product also ensures deep penetration of the components into the layers of the oral mucosa and the structure of the tongue. To increase the effectiveness of use, it is recommended to use the mouthwash in combination with toothpaste containing fluoride.

CB12 mouthwash - victory over bad breath

Bad breath (halitosis)
is a fairly common problem that affects every second person on the planet. The causes of bad breath can be poor hygiene, diseases of the teeth and gums, and disturbances in the process of saliva formation. In addition, halitosis can be caused by an abundance of protein foods (dairy and meat products), diseases of the digestive system, hormonal imbalance and smoking abuse. The CB12 mouth rinse helps solve the problem of bad breath, positive reviews of which are left not only by satisfied patients, but also by qualified dentists.

Composition of CB12 rinse aid

CB12 for the oral cavity is produced in a 250 ml container. The composition of the drug includes:

  • Zinc acetate 3%.
  • Sodium fluoride 0.05%.
  • Chlorhexidine 0.025%.
  • Alcohol 1.7%.

This composition of SV12 was not chosen by chance. Zinc acetate is involved in neutralizing volatile sulfur compounds that contribute to the formation of harmful bacteria in the oral cavity. These compounds are the source of an unpleasant odor: they appear due to the decomposition of food fragments in the mouth (in the interdental spaces, on the tongue and subgingival pockets). The use of zinc acetate can effectively combat pathogenic substances.

Chlorhexidine is a well-known antiseptic that suppresses the proliferation of most microbes, and is also used for inflammatory processes in the gums. The ability of chlorhexidine to “linger” on the mucous membranes of the oral cavity, tongue and tooth surface provides a 12-hour effect. The use of sodium fluoride helps strengthen enamel, prevent caries and provide an additional antimicrobial effect, and this component significantly slows down the development of pathogenic bacteria.

Thus, the composition of the CB12 mouthwash is patented, quite unique and, according to the manufacturer, is aimed at combating the causes of bad breath.

Advantages of CB12 rinse aid

The CB12 mouthwash, reviews of which are mostly positive, has passed all the necessary clinical studies. During the tests, the effectiveness and long-lasting effect of the drug were proven:

  • Bad breath is eliminated for 12 hours.
  • After 12 hours, the content of volatile sulfur compounds is reduced by an average of 70%.

Such a long-lasting effect of the drug is due to a specially developed formula and a special concentration of active components. Clinical trials were carried out using a gas chromatograph, which detects and displays the amount of sulfur compounds. The effectiveness of CB12 was compared with the effect of 4 similar drugs. The results of the study confirmed that the combination of zinc acetate and chlorhexidine is the best in the fight against volatile sulfur compounds, so the effectiveness of CB12 far exceeded that of other drugs participating in the trials.

The use of CB12 does not lead to disruption of the natural microflora of the oral cavity.

Mode of application

CB12 is used to rinse the mouth 1-2 times a day after cleansing the tooth surface. The required dose is 10 ml. It is recommended to rinse your mouth for about 1 minute. Rinse aid CB12, the price of which corresponds to the effectiveness and quality of the product, is suitable for use from 14 years of age.

Motorists, as well as women during pregnancy and breastfeeding, should use the product with caution due to the inclusion of alcohol in the composition of CB12.

Dentists' recommendations

Many dentists especially highlight the CB12 rinse: it eliminates bad breath for a long time, but after using the drug, the problems return. This is explained by the fact that the product does not affect the causes of the unpleasant odor, but only masks the negative effect, that is, relieves symptoms. The presence of chlorhexidine in CB12 implies the use of the product for no more than 2-3 weeks. Dentists believe that even such a low content of this substance (only 0.025%) with long-term use can lead to dysbiosis of the oral cavity (the manufacturer denies these beliefs). The optimal concentration of chlorhexidine is 0.05%. In CB12 the substance content is lower, which leads to insufficient effectiveness and causes microorganisms to become accustomed to the antiseptic. Therefore, harmful microflora in the oral cavity will multiply more actively, which can lead to gum inflammation and increased bad breath.

Leading dentists at our clinic recommend using CB12 as a product that effectively eliminates bad breath, with flattering reviews and an affordable price.
But the course of treatment should not exceed 2-3 weeks (after which you should take a break of 1 month), or use the mouthwash only before important meetings and events to give freshness to your breath. Products without antiseptics in the composition are suitable for regular use. And the most ideal option would be to eliminate the causes of bad breath: professional teeth cleaning, elimination of caries and inflammatory processes in the oral cavity, cure of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Instructions

Rinse aid CB12 is available in tubes of 250 ml. The use of the product with a dispenser should be carried out as follows:

  • it is necessary to remove the cover and protective ring in case of first use;
  • then the bottle is tilted towards the oral cavity at an angle of 45ᵒ;
  • then you should press the red button and hold it until the dispenser automatically gives you the volume of 10 ml fixed by the manufacturers;
  • When the oral cavity is filled with liquid, rinse for 30-60 seconds;
  • At the end of the procedure, the composition is spat out.

If you purchased a rinse aid without an automatic dispenser, the algorithm of actions remains the same. Just instead of pressing the red button, you will have to measure 10 ml of the substance yourself using a measuring cap.

According to the advertisement, the CB12 mouthwash is effective for 12 hours. However, you should not adhere to this statement, since the effectiveness of its use largely depends on the individual characteristics of the body and the severity of the unpleasant odor.

In addition, the indicated duration of action does not take into account the consumption of food products that have their own strong aroma, which is retained in the micropores of the oral cavity.

Be that as it may, experts recommend using mouthwash no more than 2 times a day.

Considering the produced volume and expert advice, one bottle lasts the user about 12 days.

Composition of the oral product

Rinse aid CB12 contains the following active ingredients: zinc acetate dihydrate, which removes bad odors, chlorhexidine, which has an antiseptic effect, sodium fluoride, which protects teeth from caries. The secondary ingredients in the composition are: water, glycerin, alcohol, sorbitol, sodium fluoride, castor oil, citric acid, fragrance.

The liquid rinse aid is packaged in 250 ml polyethylene bottles. This amount is enough for twenty-five sprays, that is, approximately 10 ml of this product is consumed per application.

CB12 is a special patented formula that freshens breath for twelve hours in one use. Starts to work immediately. Has a light aroma of menthol and mint. Contains 0.05% sodium fluoride.

Flaws

Among the shortcomings of the creators of the product, users note the lack of a therapeutic effect. No matter how much you use the mouthwash, the problem of bad odor will return as soon as you stop using it.

However, this is not surprising, because the lack of freshness in this case is caused by pathogenic bacteria that need constant exposure.

Unfortunately, scientists on our planet have not yet invented a composition that gives a person immunity against harmful microflora.

Rinse aid users note the relatively high cost of the composition.

Dentist review

The opinion of practicing specialists is divided into two directions: some recommend a unique composition for constant use, others advise dealing with unpleasant odor in courses of 2-3 weeks with a break of 2-3 months.

Experienced dentists believe that the presence of even a minimal amount of chlorhexidine in the composition can lead to dysbiosis of the oral cavity, which in the future can result in many serious problems.

CB12 – dentist reviews

Rinse CB12 - review left by a practicing dentist: “The composition of CB 12 is really good, and it allows you to eliminate unpleasant odors longer than most conventional rinses (up to 12 hours). This is undoubtedly due to the presence of zinc acetate in the composition. But! Like other rinses, CB12 only masks the smell, and as soon as you stop using it, the smell will return. Moreover, if you use this drug for a long time, the smell will most likely begin to appear even faster. The latter is due to the presence of an antiseptic in the composition, long-term use of which will further disrupt the balance of the oral microflora and lead to the development of its dysbacteriosis.”

This is due to the fact that CB12 does not fight the causes of bad breath, but is only a symptomatic remedy (like, for example, paracetamol for fever), i.e. temporarily dampens the odor. To overcome unpleasant odors, you need to fight the causes of this disease, which we wrote about in detail in the review at the link above. In addition, the content of the antiseptic chlorhexidine does not allow us to recommend this drug for a long time (preferably no more than 3-4 weeks). Despite the manufacturer's statements that the concentration of chlorhexidine at 0.025% is low and does not cause oral dysbacteriosis with long-term use - in our opinion, this is not true.

The optimal concentration of chlorhexidine solution (Fig. 4) to suppress pathogenic bacteria in the oral cavity is 0.05%. Moreover, it is recommended to rinse your mouth with this concentration for no more than 10 days. A decrease in concentration, on the one hand, causes less effectiveness, and on the other (against the background of long-term use) – pathogenic bacteria become accustomed to this antiseptic.

The latter circumstance will lead to the appearance of more aggressive microflora in the oral cavity, which will undoubtedly lead to the progression of gum inflammation after stopping the use of the drug, dysbiosis of the oral microflora, which will cause an even more unpleasant odor after discontinuation of the drug. In addition, long-term suppression of the bacterial flora inevitably frees up a niche for the growth of fungi of the genus Candida, i.e. for the development of oral candidiasis. Therefore, no rinse aids are in any way a solution to the problem of unpleasant odors. This is only a temporary remedy.

Conclusions : we recommend using this remedy either for a course of 2-3 weeks (with a break of 1 month), or using it periodically before various meetings, events, i.e. when fresh breath is important to you, but you can’t brush your teeth. In this case, it will be an excellent means of masking the unpleasant odor.

For continuous use, it is better to choose products that do not contain antiseptics. It is optimal if such elixirs contain sodium fluoride, menthol, and essential oils. More detailed information on rinsing solutions is in the article: “Rating of mouth rinses”
