What diseases does Furacilin treat?

More often, an antimicrobial drug is prescribed when the throat hurts due to seasonal colds. It is recommended when a person is infected:

  • staphylococcal sore throat;
  • acute or chronic form of tonsillitis;
  • glossitis (local inflammation of the tongue);
  • stomatitis (damage to the mucous membrane in the mouth);
  • gingivitis (infection of the gums).

Furacilin is also prescribed for purulent otitis, conjunctivitis, bedsores, bacterial and fungal infections of the nasal cavity and other infectious diseases.

For sore throat

In acute tonsillitis, the tonsils become inflamed. The disease is accompanied by:

  • high temperature;
  • sore throat;
  • redness of the mucous membrane;
  • swelling of the tonsils;
  • accumulation of plaque on the tonsils.

In severe cases, infusion therapy is used and immunoglobulins are administered. In acute tonsillitis, purulent plaque always forms in the oral cavity. It is removed mechanically. Rinsing with furatsilin solution relieves pain. The procedure helps to destroy microbes, and the healing process is shortened.

For pharyngitis

Inflammation of the lymph and tonsils is accompanied by a sore throat. Treatment with furatsilin up to three times a day is prescribed to relieve inflammation and acute symptoms along with other antiseptics.

Ointment

Furacilin is also available in the form of an ointment. In this case, it effectively helps with burns, hypothermia, and also with purulent wounds. The composition of the ointment is slightly different from the solution. Contains additional components that have a calming and softening effect. The skin is smoothed, damaged tissues are regenerated, wounds and scars heal quickly.

In pharmacies you can purchase the product in tubes of 10 or 50 ml. Inside contains instructions for use. For minor surgical operations, ointment is prescribed to restore and remove the inflammatory process. It is often used to relieve inflammation of the ear canal.

Paste

Furacilin in the form of a paste is used for prevention in the summer. It protects the skin from exposure to high temperatures. Often used in chemical plants where toxic chemicals are produced.

The paste must be applied in a thin layer to exposed skin. Can be used on the face. The composition does not contain harmful substances. Has an anti-inflammatory effect. After application, a thin film is formed that protects the skin from exposure to harmful substances. Wash off with plain water and soap.

Solution

Furacilin solution can be purchased at the pharmacy in ready-made form. However, if you travel often and carry it with you, then it would be more advisable to buy tablets and make the solution yourself. They are easier to store without worrying about packaging.

The solution is used to treat throat problems: pharyngitis, tonsillitis and other inflammatory diseases. If you plan to treat only at home, then buy a ready-made solution. It will already be cooked in the correct proportions. You will be sure of its sterility, and the packaging will be sealed.

When preparing yourself, you must carefully follow the instructions. Because if the solution turns out to be too concentrated, you can damage the mucous membrane, which is already inflamed. If the concentration is insufficient, the drug may not have the desired effect.

By rinsing with furatsilin, negative microorganisms are eliminated from the mucous membrane. When preparing the solution yourself, do it for 1 procedure so that it is always fresh. The drug should be stored in a cool, dark place.

Composition and release form

The main active component of furatsilin is Nitrofural. This is an antimicrobial substance that has a detrimental effect on most types of microorganisms that form in the oral cavity and cause inflammatory processes. In combination with auxiliary components, some of which enhance the effect of Nitrofural, and others are independent antiseptics, furatsilin in liquid form has the maximum antimicrobial effect. This reduces the intensity of toothache, and after tooth extraction prevents complications and promotes rapid healing of the gums.

Furacilin is available in several forms:

  • Pills
  • Powder
  • Mouth rinse solution
  • Alcohol solution.

The most common form is tablets, because they are easy to store, dilute and have no contraindications, unlike an alcohol solution. The product is produced in a blister of 10 tablets of 0.02 g each. A solution for rinsing teeth is prepared at the rate of 1 tablet per 100 ml of water. It is recommended to use warm boiled water above average temperature to dissolve furatsilin as quickly as possible. The prepared solution must be stored in a dark and cool place for no more than 10 days.

Furacilin in powder form is less popular and is practically not used at home due to the complexity of preparing the solution - it is necessary to maintain the proportions exactly. The release form is glass containers with contents weighing 10 g.

Mouth rinse solution is ready for use and is widely used both in dentistry and at home.

An alcohol solution of furatsilin (0.067%) is used in dentistry to cauterize ulcers and wounds, and is also used as a rinse for teeth and canals after extraction. The liquid is not recommended for independent use, as there are contraindications and the possibility of individual intolerance. The use of an alcohol solution should only be started after consultation with a dentist or as directed.

Is furatsilin allowed during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

During pregnancy, furatsilin is approved for external use. The solution is recommended to be used for washing for preventive purposes and for the treatment of bacterial infections. Thrush often accompanies women during this period; furatsilin can reduce its manifestation and relieve the inflammatory process.

When breastfeeding, furatsilin is used externally with caution.
This is due to the fact that after using it, the milk may have a bitter taste and the baby will refuse the breast. Therefore, use during this period should be strictly monitored by a doctor to avoid negative consequences. This article is for informational purposes only, please consult your doctor for details! Ask your doctor about contraindications and side effects.

Treatment with Furacilin

In case of facial swelling, it is not recommended to apply any hot compresses, since such a procedure will only aggravate the problem and the inflammatory process will significantly intensify.

It will not be possible to cure gingivitis or flux on your own, as this is fraught with the development of an extensive inflammatory process and the spread of infection to nearby tissues. It is necessary to consult a dentist; thanks to comprehensive treatment procedures, it will be possible to eliminate swelling of the gums and maintain dental health.

When treating flux, anti-inflammatory drugs are usually used, namely Furacilin solution. You can prepare the solution yourself, or purchase a ready-made rinse at the pharmacy.

To prepare an antibacterial solution yourself, you will need to dissolve one tablet of the drug in 200 ml of hot (boiled) water. After all the particles of the tablet have completely dissolved, you can carry out the rinsing procedure.
