Laser dental implantation in Moscow: features, advantages, prices

What is the essence of laser implantation?

The procedure protocol is practically no different from traditional implantation. To install the implant, the doctor needs to make an incision in the gum and bone tissue into which the titanium root will be implanted. During a normal operation, the incision is made using a scalpel or bur.

For laser implantation, a diode laser operating in the invisible spectrum is used. During implantation, the laser beam hits the gum and evaporates the intracellular fluid, thereby burning the tissue. The beam is very thin and works in both constant and pulsed radiation - this way the doctor can have maximum control over the incision site down to the millimeter, and special illumination helps to see the surgical field in detail.

Stages

Like an operation using classical technology, laser implantation involves preliminary diagnostic procedures (orthopantomogram, computed tomography, targeted radiography) and sanitation of the oral cavity with the treatment of all dental diseases and removal of dental plaque. After this, the artificial root is implanted, which includes the following steps:

  • local anesthesia;
  • determining the location of the implant using special equipment;
  • dissection of the mucous membrane with a laser beam;
  • formation of a bed in bone tissue using a set of cutters;
  • installation of an implant using a physiodispenser;
  • fixation of a gum former or temporary crown onto an implant.

After the osseointegration process of the titanium root is completed, which lasts about 4 months, the healing abutment or temporary crown is removed, after which the abutment and permanent prosthesis are installed.

Indications and contraindications for laser implantation

There are no separate indications for surgery using a laser; it is recommended in the same cases as traditional implantation: replacement of teeth with single, group or complete absence and the inability to wear removable dentures.

This also applies to contraindications. Relative contraindications, after elimination of which the operation can be performed, include:

  • insufficient bone tissue volume;
  • caries and tartar;
  • gum disease;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • temporary viral infections and decreased immunity.

Absolute contraindications under which surgery is not performed:

  • diabetes;
  • disorders of blood clotting, liver and kidney function;
  • pathologies of the cardiovascular and nervous systems;
  • tuberculosis and autoimmune diseases;
  • bruxism;
  • psychical deviations.

There are also a number of contraindications for laser implantation: the procedure is excluded if there is pigmentation or tumors of various types on the tissues of the oral cavity, mainly the gums.

What are the restrictions?

There are no serious contraindications here as such. The laser technique is subject to the same limitations that apply to any other options for dental implantation. It is also best to avoid exposure to laser equipment in the following cases:

  • the presence of pigmented areas or moles on the mucous membrane,
  • the presence of neoplasms of any etiology,
  • chronic diseases of the oral cavity (stage of decompensation)

In each individual case, the doctor carefully studies the clinical picture, assesses the current condition of the patient’s body and his oral cavity. Only after a full diagnostic examination will a specialist be able to make a decision on the admissibility of surgery and the use of a laser.

Advantages of the laser method

Despite the fact that traditional implantation is successfully carried out in almost all dental clinics and has proven itself to be a reliable and effective method, laser surgery has more advantages.

  1. Sterility. During the operation, soft tissues do not come into contact with the instruments, so the risk of infection is eliminated. In addition, the laser beam itself has a bactericidal effect - it kills germs in the oral cavity.
  2. Low morbidity. Soft and bone tissues are burned exactly to the size of the implant; the laser beam helps not to touch even a millimeter of excess gum and bone area. Also, during cauterization, the beam seals the tissue, so during laser implantation the patient loses much less blood. And the doctor can work more accurately - without blood, the surgical field is better visible.
  3. Fast rehabilitation. Thanks to low blood loss and minimal intervention, the mucous membrane heals much faster, and the reduced risk of infection virtually eliminates the occurrence of complications after implantation.
  4. Aesthetics. Using a thin beam, the doctor makes a precise and small incision, so after the operation the patient does not face scars, cicatrices, or tissue displacement.
  5. Duration of the operation. The use of a laser reduces surgery time.

Laser dental implantation: contraindications

Considering that with “laser dental implantation”, the main use of the laser is to cut soft tissues, the mucous membrane of the gums and the periosteum of the alveolar process of the jaw, the main contraindication is the presence of pigment spots and birthmarks in the incision area. You should be careful about the presence of precancerous changes in the mucous membranes in the laser incision area. To prevent laser incisions in the gums from provoking malignant degeneration of nevi and pigmented areas of the mucous membrane, consultation with oncologists is necessary.

Rehabilitation after laser implantation

Despite the fact that laser implantation is considered the least traumatic technique, it still remains a surgical intervention. Immediately after the effect of anesthesia wears off, the patient may feel pain, like after a tooth extraction - the discomfort can be relieved with painkillers prescribed by the doctor.

Swelling, redness and slight bleeding are also possible - use herbal rinses and treat the oral cavity with antiseptic preparations to speed up tissue healing. To relieve swelling, use cold compresses, apply this lotion every half hour.

The pain and swelling disappear within three days, but the patient may still experience discomfort due to unusual sensations - the artificial and real teeth feel different, and this is normal. It takes about a week to adapt to the implant, after which the difference is no longer noticeable.

The key to successful engraftment is not only the high-quality work of the doctor, but also the efforts and consciousness of the patient. A person’s behavior during the rehabilitation period is very important, in particular, compliance with the specialist’s recommendations.

  1. Be sure to carry out daily hygiene procedures - brushing your teeth, rinsing your mouth after eating. It is important to purchase a soft toothbrush, because a regular one is not suitable for irritated and injured tissues. Brush your teeth carefully, trying not to put pressure on the mucous membrane in the surgical area or touch the implant; to clean this area, it is better to buy a thin mono-beam brush.
  2. Eliminate solid foods from your diet; food should be taken in the form of porridge or puree. Avoid hot and cold drinks and foods; food at room temperature is best.
  3. Smoking is prohibited, as are sports activities, air travel, baths and saunas, and a swimming pool. Do not place unnecessary stress on the implant, as this may interfere with healing.

If you continue to feel pain or discomfort a week after surgery, consult your doctor!

Features of the rehabilitation period

Since there is no mechanical dissection of tissue under the influence of a laser beam, the area of influence is minimal, and the wound is immediately closed, the postoperative stage is easier and faster. This is evidenced by numerous patient reviews. However, in order to quickly cope with unpleasant symptoms, you should adhere to the following rules:

  • In the first few days after surgery, you must take painkillers prescribed by your doctor;
  • To relieve swelling and inflammation in the oral cavity, you should rinse daily with special pharmaceutical products and herbal infusions;
  • Also, topical agents are excellent for eliminating painful sensations, which include Metrogyl-Denta, Cholisal and Solcoseryl;
  • Regular ice applied to the sore cheek is especially effective;
  • Teeth brushing can be done a few days after implantation, but using a brush with soft bristles;
  • During the rehabilitation period, it is advisable not to eat hot or hard foods.

Patients who visited the clinic for implantation and laser dentistry leave reviews confirming the presence of a foreign object in the oral cavity after surgery. However, this feeling quickly passes. Also, pain and inflammation disappear in a short time. There is no need to worry about the appearance of serious negative consequences, since they are excluded during the laser procedure.

Cost of laser implantation

The high price of laser implantation is perhaps the only drawback of this technique. The cost is indeed much higher than traditional surgery. This is explained by the fact that the technique is not yet widespread enough in clinics; to carry it out, doctors need to undergo training and advanced training, and dentistry needs to purchase new expensive equipment.

We have described all the advantages and features of laser implantation, but the right to decide which technique to prefer remains with the patient. Traditional implantation is a proven technique, and its price is much lower. The main thing is to find a professional doctor and follow all postoperative recommendations.

Description

Laser implantation differs from classical implantation only in that the implantologist uses a modern laser device in his work. This allows you to completely eliminate the use of a scalpel. In this case, the soft gum tissue can be cut with minimal blood loss and pain, and the size of the incision itself will not be more than 5 millimeters. The place for installing the pin is not drilled out, but burned out.

Another advantage is that the doctor's work area does not need to be completely isolated from salivary fluid. This is possible due to the fact that newly cut capillaries and tissues are immediately sealed with a laser beam. The patient does not experience any pain or discomfort, everything goes away as quickly as possible.

Of course, not every dental clinic has the appropriate equipment, because not every laser is suitable for implantation. The work usually uses a diode laser with a wavelength of 810 nanometers and a power of at least 0.7 Watt. Similar devices are actively used in teeth whitening; they are considered the most versatile.

Indications

The laser beam does not have any negative effect on the body. To avoid damage to vision, the doctor and patient must wear special glasses during the procedure. Indications for laser implantation coincide with indications for traditional implantation. If there is a history of allergic reactions, preference is given to the laser method. There are no age restrictions: implants are implanted in both young and elderly people.
